What did we do this week?
The original focus of this week was going to be dribbling which is an extremely important skill in soccer because that's the only way to move the ball around the field during a game. Due to scheduling difficulties, we were unable to meet up this week for a soccer competition. Therefore, there was no competition this week. Instead of competing we decided to just have a practice week where we could just work on soccer in general. How did we accomplish this? Fuller Kate practiced by doing indoor soccer this week. Indoor soccer is a super fun version of soccer that's exactly what it sounds like: soccer that takes place inside. The only major difference between regular soccer and indoor soccer is that with indoor soccer there's a lot faster of a pace because there is no out-of-bounds. That's one of the best parts of indoor soccer, you're allowed to play the ball off of the wall. Ella practiced this week by doing a series of different drills to work on different skills. These drills consisted of dribbling between cones, dribbling from slow to fast, one-touch passing against a wall, settling, and toe taps. The dribbling drills were done to work on what was supposed to be this week's focus. The toe taps, one-touch passing, and settling drills were all done to work on ball control. Progress with the project? Up to this point, unless you've been keeping up with the weekly videos, no one knows who is in the lead with this competition. We prefer to keep it this way. The winner of the whole project will be announced in the final presentation and we will continue to not post the winner of the weekly competition in the blog posts. This helps to keep the suspense of the competition alive. We've really enjoyed this project and the competitive factor involved. This project has really forced us to become better players and become more intentional when practicing different skills together. We have both seen the progress and are excited to see the winner! Excited to see who really is the Fittest on the Field!
